Pro FPV cinematography — sport, nature, events.
A cinewhoop follow of a mountain-bike rider through tight forest singletrack — matching speed and line through trees and drops, close enough to feel the bars.
We left the trail —
and followed
the light into the pines.
Low-altitude flight between trunks and across the lake — reading the light through the canopy, carrying speed through tight terrain. A single continuous line.
Then inside —
a flight rehearsed
to the second.
A choreographed flight through a live art exhibition — blocked to the performers, cued to the beat. Part happening, part cinematography. Planned frame by frame. Flown on a single line.
Tomi Varjonen — FPV pilot and cinematographer based in Finland. Flying since 2021.
I came to FPV through cinema. Photo and film were already part of my life; the workshop already had a soldering iron and a 3D printer in it. The first FPV clips I saw broke my brain — lines a camera shouldn't be able to take. Within months it had taken me over completely.
The cinewhoop and the 5-inch quad with a GoPro are what I reach for most — close follows, tight interiors, choreographed lines through performance and sport. For wider work I fly Mavic 3 and Phantom 4 Pro.
I work with filmmakers, DPs, and production teams — from a single flight to a finished cut.
A quiet line through the pines as the light returns to the cabin.
Tell me about the shot.
